The Wild West Casino is located
on the lower end of Deadwood's Historic Main Street; in close
proximity to all of the downtown attractions, and the city
parking garage. The Deadwood Trolley conveniently stops right
in front of the casino.
The Eagle Bar boasts an original Brunswick Bar from the early 1800's. It is rumored
to be the oldest bar in South Dakota! The bar also has the only starlit
ceiling in Deadwood. You will feel like you are relaxing under the stars on the
prairie, just like the pioneers of the Wild West. In addition to beer and wine,
the Eagle Bar serves your favorite cocktails using the finest spirits.
The Brunswick bar, made in Indiana in 1825, was one of two
made at the same time. The other bar, originally located in
Buffalo, South Dakota, is thought to now be somewhere in Wyoming.
The bar-back, made of gorgeous cherry wood, was found in a
barn in Eastern South Dakota and moved to Deadwood in 1925.
In the early 1950's, the bar was disassembled for refinishing.
It was black in appearance from an accumulation of lacquer
and wax over the years. Local Deadwood patrons cleaned and
refinished the woodwork by hand (which took the better
part of a year) in exchange for free beer.
A part of the Green Door District, the Wild West Casino's upper floors were the
original location of the Deadwood brothels that were closed down in 1980. Look
up at the second-story windows to see what those who frequented the brothels
once saw: beautiful women welcoming you to the Wild West. The Green Door Dinner
Theater is also located in what once was the brothel district.
The Wild West Casino is the original location of Saloon #10, where Wild Bill Hickok
met his demise. The saloon burnt down in a fire and was relocated across the
street. Visit our FREE interpretive site and learn all about the curse of the
dead man's hand and the man who made it famous.
